We are overwhelmed by the participation and wonderful feedback from the International participants. We had more than 600 delegates and 400 of them were from 40 different countries excluding India.
The combined event of WSCTS 20th World Congress & 6th Global Forum on Humanitarian Medicine held at CTC, Chennai, between 20th and 23rd October 2010 was an outstanding success.
The focal point of the congress was the thematic oration from Mr. Al Gore, 45th Vice President and Climate Champion. Al Gore is a crusader against global warming and he has been awarded the Nobel Price for Peace in the year 2007. His speech was an attraction to the World Congress where he spoke about how the Human development has affected world climate and also how doctor's can play a vital role in arresting the Climate Change. Pointers on how we have increased the carbon content from 280 to 390 in the last 152 years due to the industrial development was startling

As the World Congress co-hosted 6th Global Forum for Humanitarian Medicine, we also saw diverse groups of surgeons and cardiologists coming forward to take up a more proactive role in humanitarian efforts around the world. Missions were actively planned to bring the best of cardiac treatment to remote corners of the world.
For instance the Italian organization, Bambini Cardiopatici nel Mondo, headed by Dr Allesandro Frigiola, has supported free surgery for 10 children at Parumala, Kerala where the first tertiary cardiac care centre of the country, promoted by Dr K.M. Cherian, is situated in this remote village with a population of 7300. Hands-on workshops and special sessions from world renowned Cardio Thoracic Surgeons were also arranged
We are honored to have been chosen to host this event of such magnitude
